Our colleague Marko Dabrović participated in a recent Lider magazine article on possible approaches to more affordable housing. In the article titled “How to Wisely Invest 400 Million Euros in More Affordable Housing,” Marko offers an architectural and urban-planning perspective on the topic and points out that state subsidies encouraging home purchases can easily turn into a model that “gives investments only short-term value.”
According to Dabrović, if we want to meaningfully and sustainably improve housing accessibility, the state should support the creation of a public and social rental housing fund, accompanied by coordinated spatial planning and a clear urban strategy. Such an approach, he believes, enables not only better housing availability but also sustainable urban development, high-quality living, and social balance.
