Our approach to design is different every time, with various realities and numerous parameters that we set and are given to us. It is integral, analytical, and iterative. It is based on the exchange of opinions from different people, whom we try to involve in production—these are various experts in different fields. Together with them, we strive to achieve the highest quality product. Our approach is often like that of a producer, and we frequently find ourselves in the role of a director or DJ who ultimately delivers the best editing. Through this working method, we explore the most suitable concept and attempt to create new value. We always work on a kind of prototype, which, similar to the automotive industry, is sometimes a redesign and sometimes an exploratory endeavor.
3LHD is an architectural practice focused on integrating various disciplines – architecture, urban planning, design and art. constantly explore new possibilities of interaction between architecture, society and individuals as well as their mutual integration. Through a contemporary architectural approach, we deal with all projects in cooperation with many experts from various disciplines.
The Studio was founded in Zagreb in 1994 by four partners: Saša Begović, Marko Dabrović, Tatjana Grozdanić Begović and Silvije Novak. In 2016 they appointed a new partner, Paula Kukuljica.
Projects, such as Memorial Bridge in Rijeka, Croatian Pavilion at EXPO 2005 in Japan, Riva Waterfront in Split, Sports Hall Bale in Istria, Hotel Lone in Rovinj, LN Garden Hotel in China, Grand Park Hotel Rovinj, Campus Infobip, residential block Park Kneževa and Campus Rimac in Zagreb are some of the important projects that have established 3LHD not only in the professional circles but also in the wider public circles. Our work has received important Croatian and international architectural awards.
During the continuous growth of the office and the increase in the scope and complexity of the tasks, 3LHD has developed work methodologies in which an architectural office is primarily a platform for coordinated production and exchange of knowledge.
The dynamics of development and implementation of large projects required innovations in the structuring and organization of the office in order to ensure intensive and effective cooperation within the studio.
