Pula Waterfront

Pula is a city of forgotten development and „frozen present“. Its’ main and central zone is always busy, filled with all kinds of activities but unavailable for proper Mediterranean urban living.
The urban density by the sea and a mix of different functions need to become a basis for the economic development of the city and the restoration of the maritime economic functions to the waterfront. This can be achieved primarily by establishing a solid infrastructure system for the roads and the coastal belt. All four distinguishable coastal zones should be treated in the same way, with specific coastal, urban and historical characteristics.
Our concept re-evaluates and re-establishes the area along the railway line. Along with it we draw a series of green zones through all four urban zones. They act as a continuation of the traditional zones of uninterrupted green parks. The greenery is derived from the historical topography, it is a link of all urban elements and zones, following the railway and meandering around it.
