The Đurđevac Sports and Recreation Centre is located next to the Old Town of Đurđevac and park forest Borik. The concept design of the center included a wide range of sports and recreational facilities and in this phase, the stadium building and football field were built.
All the facilities of the planned center are connected by a network of trails and a promenade that is complemented by the pedestrian trails of the surrounding area - the city center, the meadows behind the Old Town, the Picok Hotel and the Borik Forest Park.
The football stadium building is the central element of the sports and recreation center. The target categorization of the building and the open playgrounds is the UEFA 1st category stadium. The one-storey building has a public rooftop which is also an access path to the 200 seat capacity stands.
Pedestrian communication rises up to the roof of the building, and on the other side of the building, it descends and connects with the terrain. In this way, the roof becomes a passage terrace, partially covered with a canopy extending over and above the spectator stands.
The height difference between the roof and the terrain is articulated with cascading stair-like terraces with greenery. Along with the cascade form of the building, the main design element is the exposed concrete facade in yellow color inspired by a nearby geographic-botanical reserve "Đurđevečki peski".
The aim of the project design was to interpret the functional elements of the stadium in a modern way with the best possible fit of the building in the surrounding environment. The wooden canopy construction together with the greenery on the stairs and the hanging garden at the back of the building introduces an element of nature that provides a new visual and tactile experience.
In addition to the functional facilities (changing rooms, infirmary, media room, technical and service areas), there are also two office spaces, a coffee bar and a VIP lounge in the interior.
