22. October 2016

The Karlovac freshwater aquarium was officially opened for public this Saturday. A unique tourist and museum attraction is located directly on the right bank of the river Korana. The goal of the project design was to validate the promenade and make a new city focal point. The building is completely embedded in the natural Korana environment.
An exceptionally successful cooperation with the city of Karlovac resulted in a project which is a positive example of a realization financed by the European Regional Development Fund. The public institution Aquatica - Freshwater aquarium Karlovac was built as part of the "Freshwater Aquarium and the Museum of the river - KAquarium" project which was co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Programme Regional Competitiveness 2007- 2013 in the amount of 36,222,282.45kn, and the total value of the project is 36,691,939.25kn.
