The second edition of the Open House Zagreb festival was presented on September 16th. Festival program is conceived around several thematic units: "Revitalization of architectural heritage", "Viktor Kovačić" and "Urban Entities". A tour of the Green Pavilion, the student restaurant on the campus of the Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Forestry, is a part of the “Urban Entities” theme.
The theme entitled "Revitalization of architectural heritage" will introduce citizens to the specific process of restoration of most heritage buildings and, in some cases, to renovations that are not related to the earthquake. The theme "Viktor Kovačić" is associated with two important anniversaries: 150 years since his birth and 100 years since the death of the great Croatian architect who was declared the father of modern Croatian architecture. The theme "Urban Entities" will present some of the parts of the city that attract a lot of attention from citizens.
As part of the Festival, a topic called "Meeting with an architect" will be organized, which includes conversations with extremely important architects who marked certain eras – Hildegard Auf-Franić, Branko Silađin and Milan Šosterič.
The first festival edition took place in October 2023 and promoted 35 attractive buildings that physically and symbolically represent some of Zagreb's best architectural examples. It offered new visions of the city and personal views of objects from different eras and different purposes, objects whose secrets were revealed during the Festival.
The idea of the new Pavilion / Restaurant was to construct a space by mapping the area of high-quality trees and to define the remaining territory for construction. By raising this "cut" green territory in the air the space “below” was created. The basic formal and functional element and a seasonal regulator of light is so-called “vegetative” canopy that has been formed along the entire roof edge.
