Karlovac Freshwater Aquarium has been nominated for the Big Architecture award, which has been awarded for the past ten years by Zavod BIG in Slovenia. They have been awarding quality housing projects since 2008, but this year they decided to upgrade the program and divide it in 4 categories: public, private - housing, private - interior and landscape architecture and urban space. The focus is on the region of South- East Europe exclusively, because architectural production of the region can be excellent, but often not noticed or studied enough. Karlovac Freshwater Aquarium is one of the projects nominated in the "public and commercial" category.
