ACI Marina Rovinj
completed, Rovinj, 2019.
ACI Marina Rovinj is located in an attractive tourist area of Monte Mulini, near the Rovinj city center. The said space is characterized by a public park, the Rovinj waters overlooking the medieval town center and a rich tourist, sports and recreational facilities of the site - a promenade, a public beach and high category hotels. It is exactly the site context that served as an inspiration for reflection over the redesign of the existing Marina facilities. 3LHD is working on this project together with the firm Obala - the authors of the maritime part of the Marina. 3LHD is in charge of the land part of the marina - the design and construction of the new building for functional services to boaters and the redesign of the roads, pedestrian areas and green landscape surfaces.
The new Marina building will have a Yacht club with a reception, office spaces and agencies, catering facilities (café-lounge bar, restaurant), commercial and service spaces (service facilities for sailors, storage, sanitary and technical premises). The project meets the requirements for a 5 anchor marina and ensures added value with the design of both interior and exterior spaces.
The functioning of the land part of the marina takes place through two conceptual levels: a representative and a service level. The first one is the part the yachtsmen come into contact with (with a reception, restaurant/café-lounge bar, agencies and shops), and the part that interacts with the users of the public city spaces and tourist facilities (pedestrians on the promenade, Hotel Park guests etc.). The second one functions as a customer service area for the marina users.
The marina building is designed as a unique volume inserted into the promenade tissue visible only with a façade oriented to the coast. An exception is the restaurant/café-lounge bar with a glass façade which is located on the roof of the building and acts as an extension of the promenade contents together with seating areas, green islands and urban attractions. The promenade pedestrians are directed to the shops and commercial contents, away from the service and technical spaces of the marina, and the yachtsmen are guided to nautical contents with a clear signage system. Incoming traffic from the city is discreetly lowered to the coast level where access for intervention and delivery vehicles is provided. A part of the marina parking spaces is also located on the coast level.
The visible building façade on the coast level is made of glass, with opaque panel elements placed laterally to the entrances of commercial and representative spaces.
